Uzbekistan and Russia enhance trade and economic cooperation

On February 1, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov during his visit to Moscow, the Dunyo News Agency reported.

The talks focused on building up Uzbekistan-Russia cooperation in the trade, economic, investment and industrial sectors.

The participants reviewed the progress of the implementation of the high-level agreements, including the package of agreements on 143 investment projects worth about US$7.5 billion and more than 450 trade agreements worth US$1.6 billion.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the work done by the Project Office, set up jointly by the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The Project Office is responsible for implementing bilateral investment agreements and developing projects in the metallurgy, engineering, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

The schedule of visits of the delegations from all 14 regions of Uzbekistan to a number of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, online talks on the conclusion and implementation of new trade and investment agreements and missions of representatives of Russia’s business circles interested in expanding partnerships with Uzbekistan in the textile, leather, footwear, food, power, chemical, agro-industrial, building materials and mechanical engineering sectors planned for this year was presented at the meeting.
