Leader of Uzbekistan instructs to organise leisure activities in mahallas

On January 30, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with a number of high-ranking officials, who reported on preparations for the implementation of youth, sports, healthcare and electricity generation projects, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The Uzbek leader reviewed the measures taken to organise leisure activities of young people and adults in mahallas. President Mirziyoyev asked if there were any libraries, sports facilities and other recreation facilities in mahallas.

The high-ranking officials presented a number of construction projects of school sports grounds and libraries to the President for review. President Mirziyoyev did not approve these projects, instructed to elaborate on the measures to organise leisure activities of children and adults in mahallas and put forward a number of proposals in this regard. The President’s initiatives include the construction of school basketball, tennis, mini-football and other sport courts, the installation of chess boards and the opening of libraries, computer rooms, cafes, bathhouses and medical points at schools and in mahallas.

The President proposed to implement these projects through public-private partnership and provide benefits to entrepreneurs.

The President of Uzbekistan reviewed the projects for the construction of new schools and modernisation of existing ones with an increase in the number of school places, the construction of a new oncology centre and the reinforcement and reconstruction of the power distribution networks throughout the country.
