Government of Kazakhstan starts paying compensation for damage to SMEs

In Kazakhstan, the regional commissions that review the claims for compensation for damage caused to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) during the January events are working hard these days, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported on January 31.

As of today, more than 2,000 compensation claims from Almaty, Shymkent and other regions of Kazakhstan have been submitted through the electronic portal infoKazakhstan.kz. The approved Mechanism is operating to review compensation claims in a simplified manner, or in accordance with a forensic investigation report, depending on claimer’s wish.

As reported, 33 experts are working to respond promptly to claims in Almaty, and additional 68 experts have been reserved. The commissions have taken the first positive decisions, and 17 self-employed persons have received compensation payments totalling 33 million tenge.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov assured that prompt measures would be taken to speed up resolution of these issues, and the Government would take every effort to help SMEs resume normal activities as soon as possible.
