President the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated citizens on the upcoming Sadaq festival. He noted that this is one of the ancient traditions of the Tajik people. Particular attention was paid to the importance of promoting agricultural and horticultural works during the holidays, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
Rahmon explained that the Sadaq festival falls on the 40th day of the winter, the winter season is coming to an end. He said Sadaq is a symbol of warmth, light and the victory of man over dark forces.
This holiday is a time to promote and encourage labour of farmers and gardeners, the Tajik leader added. He emphasised that farmers should prepare for the spring sowing campaign and lay the ground for a rich harvest. Moreover, farmers should strive to ensure food security as effectively as possible.
Rahmon said numerous exhibitions of domestic organic sweets and dried fruits were held in the Republic to mark the Sadaq festival. The leader of the country emphasised that one of the main goals of Tajikistan was to set up as many fruit and vegetable processing enterprises as possible.
