Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with Director for Asia and Oceania of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Bertrand Lortholary during his visit to France, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
The talks focused on concerted efforts to resolve the situation in Afghanistan and provide humanitarian assistance to this country.
The official of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs evaluated the work done by Uzbekistan to evacuate citizens of France and other EU countries from Afghanistan, and also emphasised the readiness of the Government of the French Republic to continue collaboration with Uzbekistan on the Afghan issue.
Bertrand Lortholary also supported Uzbekistan’s initiative to create an international hub in Termez to transport humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
A day before, Ismatulla Irgashev had a meeting with Deputy Director General for International Relations and Strategy of the Ministry of the Armed Forces Luc de Rancourt in Paris. The interlocutors exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and joint efforts to achieve the speedy resolution of the Afghan problem.
