Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports on January events to OSCE Council

On January 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi completed his official visit to Vienna where he briefed the OSCE Permanent Council on the January events in the Republic. He informed the meeting participants about the causes of the unrests, the results of the counter-terrorist operation and the CSTO peacekeeping mission, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Minister noted that the situation in the state had been settled, and the country continued to pursue its multilateral policy and abide by its international commitments. He also focused on the tasks to strengthen the social and economic situation in the Republic, set by the Kazakh leader to the Government, as well as a new package of political reforms being implemented within the Listening State concept.

As was reported, the Kazakh officials held talks with the leadership of the OSCE on the progress in the implementation of the agreements. Following the meeting, the prospects for cooperation were identified in the light of the new reforms launched by Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
