President of Uzbekistan holds meeting on privatization

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the progress in privatization of state assets. 210 oil and gas facilities, 152 communications facilities, 114 state commercial banks, 44 chemical facilities and 28 energy facilities to be privatised, the press office of the President reported.

It was noted that the effectiveness of the work to be done in 2022 must be intensified and doubled. Also, the inventory needs to continue. The President instructed that the khokims of regions and the heads of sectors determine and put non-core, inactive and unusable assets up for open auction.

The task was set to sell 33,000 land plots with the right of ownership previously put up for auction, as well as to put 25,000 land plots up for auction before July 1.  266 road, transport, oil and gas, energy and automotive companies must be put up for auction.

“Many heads of sectors continue to use non-core enterprises inefficiently. The state share in 480 enterprises in the major sectors can be transferred to the private sector, the Uzbek leader said.
