Zas notes the need to assist Tajikistan

On January 20, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas participated in a meeting of the RF State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. He noted the need to assist Tajikistan to curb potential security threats emanating from Afghanistan, the CSTO press office reports.

Zas informed the deputies about the outcomes of the peacekeeping operations in Kazakhstan. He noted that there were no losses among personnel, weapons and military equipment.

“We will continue our activities to strengthen the military component, we will continue our efforts to combat terrorism,” the CSTO Secretary General said.

Earlier, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova reported that the CSTO would increase its role against the backdrop of global instability in the region.

According to her, the CSTO is strengthening its role as a key actor in ensuring security and stability.
