Dushanbe and Abu Dhabi aim to expand bilateral contacts

On January 18, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to the United Arab Emirates Bahodur Sharifi met with Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization of the United Arab Emirates Abdul Rahman Bin Abdulmanan Al Awar in Abu Dhabi. The interlocutors discussed aspects of cooperation in the labour sector, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reports.

The interlocutors reviewed the progress of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of the two countries dated April 16, 2018.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, citizens of Tajikistan are allowed to work in the UAE under an employment contract between the employee and the employer, approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.

As was reported, Tajikistan-UAE trade turnover amounted to US$25.5 million for 11 months of 2021, which is 1.8 times higher than that in 2020.

The Tajikistan’s commodity exports amounted to US$9.4 million, and the imports from the UAE amounted to US$16.1 million during the above period.
