Tajikistan enhances cooperation with Global Green Growth Institute

On January 11, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in South Korea Yusuf Sharifzoda held a meeting with Chair of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ban Ki-moon in Seoul. They discussed further vectors for cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

Touching upon the issues of global climate change, Sharifzoda and Ban Ki-moon emphasised that many countries were facing the consequences of these processes, including Tajikistan.

The interlocutors agreed to promote partnerships within joint projects and strengthen cooperation in achieving the SDGs. The emphasis was placed on the importance of international initiatives put forward by the Central Asian republic, particularly at such global platforms as the UN.

As was reported, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon put forward the initiative to declare 2025 as the International Year for Glacier Protection and set up a date for the World Glacier Day at the High-level Thematic Debate of the United Nations on October 27 last year.
