MIFT of Uzbekistan reviews results of 2021 and sets tasks for 2022

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting to review the work done in the investment and foreign trade sectors in 2021 and set the tasks of attracting investment and increasing exports in 2022. In 2021, total investment amounted to 254 trillion soums with a growth rate of 109% compared to 2020, of which foreign direct investment amounted to US$ 8.6 billion, the press office of the Ministry reported to CentralAsia.news.

In the reporting period, 318 large-scale investment programmes worth US$ 5.9 billion under the State Investment Project and 15,700 projects worth US$ 7.4 billion under the regional investment programmes were implemented.

The participants reviewed the measures taken to “rehabilitate” untapped production capacities and the work done by 2,040 such companies in 2021. The decisions on financial support to manufacturers and solutions to existing problems were taken.

The reports on the measures being taken to introduce a new incentive mechanism to encourage investment activity and facilitate the implementation of programmes were presented.

The participants discussed the tasks of enhancing the export potential and increasing exports in 2022 and were instructed to develop a shipping schedule.
