On January 3, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov signed the decree on the introduction of a temporary ban on the ferrous scrap and waste exports from the Republic outside the customs territory of the EAEU, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.
According to the document, the ban is introduced for six months and applies not only to ferrous waste, but also to remelting scrap ingots of ferrous metals.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan was tasked to notify the Committee on Safeguards of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) about the introduction of a temporary ban.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was to notify the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The State Customs Service and the Border Guard Service of the State Committee for National Security were tasked to take the necessary measures to curb the illicit export of the above goods.
The Government of Kyrgyzstan reported on its intention on December 30, 2021. The ban has been formalized lately.
