Training on gender equality in trade held in Turkmenistan

A training on collection of gender-disaggregated data for trade policy was organized in the capital of Turkmenistan. The event was held as part of the Ready4Trade Central Asia project. It was attended by 24 people, as reported  by the UN press office on December 27.

The training focused on the importance of ensuring equal access to markets for women and men, fair competition and a healthy business environment. Most of the participants of the sessions were women.

The educational event consisted of four models, which included topics such as analyzing the role and influence of women on international trade, understanding the impact of tariffs on trade flows, and the importance of statistics for determining solutions to improve the conditions of trade procedures, especially for women.

The training was organized by the European Union in Turkmenistan and the International Trade Center (a multilateral agency which has a joint mandate with the WTO and the United Nations through the UN Conference on Trade and Development).
