Minister of Defence of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherali Mirzo commented on the benefits of the Dushanbe-Tashkent agreement on military intelligence in an interview with Sadoi Mardum Newspaper. He said the document would help the countries fight effectively terrorism and extremism.
Mirzo emphasised that the two countries had reached an agreement to counter the growing threats at the regional level. The documents provides for visits by defence ministers and experts who will exchange data on the security situation in the Central Asian region.
The supreme legislative body of Tajikistan has ratified three defence and security agreements with the Republic of Uzbekistan. These documents were signed during the visit of the Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Dushanbe. One of the agreements deals with air defence.
Mirziyoyev visited Tajikistan on June 10 this year. The parties signed a number of documents in the field of industry, transport, energy and agriculture.
