Tajikistan invites Iran to set up joint ventures

On December 22, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda held a meeting with Manager of the Fikri Bartar Business Centre Parinoz Peshdodiyon. The interlocutors discussed further aspects of cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development of Tajikistan reported. 

Abdurakhmonzoda proposed that joint ventures that would produce mineral water, tomato paste and canned products be set up, noting that these facilities could be located in free economic zones.

The interlocutors also discussed preparations for signing a memorandum between the free economic zones of Tajikistan and Iran. The Manager of the Iranian business centre welcomed the proposal of the Tajik official and expressed readiness to continue to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

In January-November, trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran reached US$ 93.2 million. This figure exceeds bilateral trade turnover in 2020 by US$ 44.6 million. Iran ranks ninth in the structure of Tajikistan's foreign trade.
