President of Turkmenistan hears report on prevention of Omicron

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on December 21. It was mainly dedicated to the prevention of infectious diseases, namely Omicron — a new COVID-19 variant. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».

Berdimuhamedov stressed that the country needs to take comprehensive measures to protect the health of the population. He noted that the Ministry of Health has purchased the necessary vaccines against coronavirus and is successfully immunizing citizens.

Turkmen specialists learn from the experience of their colleagues from other countries on a regular basis. Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the UN and WHO, and takes part in international medical conferences.

The President underlined that to date, thanks to effective government measures, no COVID-19 cases have been registered in the country. At the same time, he added that this is not the time to relax due to the spread of a new COVID-19 variant Omicron in the world.

Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of the State Security Council, Deputy Head of the State Commission for Emergency Situations Chary Amanov presented a report on the ongoing work on the prevention of Omicron.

The meeting participants discussed protective measures aimed at preventing the spread of infection in the state, and steps aimed at citizens arriving from abroad. Particular attention was paid to the sanitization of imported goods, in particular food products.
