President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev continues his state visit to the Republic of Korea. On December 18, the leader of Uzbekistan met with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Byeong-seug, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea and the President of Uzbekistan exchanged views on the prospects for building up bilateral cooperation in a number of areas, including through inter-parliamentary contacts. Parliamentarians of the two states regularly exchange experience on government reforms, lawmaking, governance, gender equality and regional development issues.
The Speaker of the National Assembly expressed readiness to assist in the implementation of the e-parliament system in Uzbekistan and confirmed the intention of the Korean side to participate in the Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, which would take place in the capital of Uzbekistan in 2022.
The interlocutors also expressed mutual readiness to promote interaction within the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.
