Dushanbe hosts forum on labour cooperation

On December 16, the capital of Tajikistan hosted the Partnership Forum on labour, migration and employment with donors and development partners. Local officials, representatives of international organisations and embassies, foreign journalists and experts attended the forum, the Khovar State News Agency reported.

The forum focused on improving the work of the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment, promoting primary vocational education, creating a single platform for cooperation between the Republic and international organisations and developing the roadmap for attracting investment.

Minister of Labour Shirin Amonzoda said the poverty rate in Tajikistan decreased from 83% to 26.3% in 1999-2020. Last year, the number of employed persons reached 2.56 million. The highest employment rates were recorded in the agricultural, construction, mining and processing sectors.

She noted that the Ministry was focusing on digital transformations, which would allow better regulating labour relations in the Republic. The forum adopted recommendations on labour and migration reforms in Tajikistan.
