Uzbekistan delegation participates in UN conference against corruption

The Uzbekistan delegation, headed by Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov, arrived in Egypt to participate in the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the press office of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported.

The delegation also consists of representatives of the Public Council under the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Senate and the General Prosecutor’s Office.

Delegates from more than 150 countries, heads of government, anti-corruption organisations and committees and international experts are taking part in the international forum.

The Conference aims to review the implementation of the provisions of the Convention, foster interstate cooperation in the fight against corruption and set up plans for the near future.

Uzbekistan came up with an initiative to hold special sessions for the States Parties on digital anti-corruption tools and citizen participation in relation to anti-corruption efforts. Members of the Uzbekistan delegation will hold a series of meetings with their foreign counterparts.

The Conference will close on December 17.
