Turkmen deputies share experience of interacting with children

On December 14, representatives of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan took part in a high-level regional consultation «Parliamentarians for children». It was organized by UNICEF. The deputies shared their experience of interacting with young citizens with colleagues from Europe and Central Asia. It was reported by the press office of the UN Children’s Fund.

The participants of the event assessed cooperation, progress and new opportunities in the field of support and protection of children and youth. Turkmen parliamentarians noted the importance of expanding the fight against the impact of the pandemic on the citizens.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of allocating national budgets for the needs of children, improving laws to protect the rights of the child.

The deputies of the countries of Europe and Central Asia agreed to strengthen cooperation to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The regional consultation was attended by about 200 representatives — parliamentarians, children, adolescents, experts on relevant issues.
