On December 13, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Chairman of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin, who informed the Kazakh leader about the progress of the implementation of joint projects in the Republic. Tokayev congratulated his interlocutor on receiving the Dostyk State Order. Kostin informed the interlocutor about the priority aspects of project finance operations of the VTB Group, including in the green energy sector, the press office of Akorda reported to CentralAsia.news.
The Russian banker noted that the landmark contracts worth over US$6 billion were signed with the major state-owned and private companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2020-2021. He emphasised that the total funding of the national projects by the Russian bank amounted to US$ 11.5 billion.
The biggest deal of the year is the subsidization of KAZ Minerals. In 2021, the loan agreements with ERG have been improved and a number of loan contracts have been concluded with the Samruk-Kazyna Fund and its subsidiaries – the Atyrau refinery, National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Kaztransgaz JSC.
