President of Uzbekistan visits University of Geological Sciences

On December 11, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the newly built institution of higher education – the University of Geological Sciences at the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The construction of the new university in Tashkent started at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan in January 2020. To date, the classroom building, university dormitory, 2 research institutes, laboratory, library and museum have been finally completed.

More than 700 students study at the University of Geological Sciences that offers 7 Bachelor’s degree programmes and 6 Master's degree programmes and has the correspondence department for industry workers with a work service of over 5 years.

The University houses H. Abdullaev Institute of Geology and Geophysics, the Institute of Mineral Resources, the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology and the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Exploration.

The University will house a large laboratory, the building of the State Committee of Geology, the geological fund and the building of Uzbek Geology Kidiruv JSC that will be built next year.
