On December 11, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of congratulation to new Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz. In his message, he expressed the hope that the two states would continue to strengthen relations in all areas, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.
Emphasising that Dushanbe was interested in enhancing contacts with Berlin in various areas of mutual interest, Rahmon expressed belief that Tajikistan-Germany cooperation would develop exponentially.
On the same day, the President of Tajikistan sent a telegram to former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, thanking her for her sincere friendship and trust. Rahmon warmly recalled the meetings and conversations with the former Chancellor, emphasising her profound contribution to Tajikistan-Germany relations.
As was reported, Minister for Finance of Germany, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany Olaf Scholz was sworn in as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany on December 8. He succeeded Merkel as Chancellor; she governed Germany for 16 years and decided not to seek re-election.
