Leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan hold one-on-one talks

On December 6, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev during his official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held one-on-one talks after the official greeting ceremony.

The talks between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan focused on building up bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as achieving regional and global security.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev congratulated his Uzbek counterpart on his victory in the presidential elections in October and emphasised that the current visit of the leader of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan was very important for promoting bilateral partnerships.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev positively evaluated the dynamics and potential of Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan economic interaction, characterising it as natural partnerships between the two friendly neighbouring states. Mirziyoyev noted that the countries were enhancing trade cooperation, increasing trade turnover and freight transport volume, implementing a number of joint projects in the energy, chemical, food and building sectors and boosting cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan continue cooperation within the authoritative international organisations, including the UN, CIS, SCO and the Organization of Turkic States.

The current meeting of the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will be another step to bring bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

The leaders of the two states also discussed some issues of regional and international politics.
