On December 5, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, addressed citizens through TV. Commenting on his recent visit to the capital of Turkmenistan as part of the participation in the 15th ECO summit, he stressed that important issues between Ashgabat and Tehran were solved there, as reported by IRNA news agency.
According to him, representatives of the two countries were able to solve the five-year issues between Iran and Turkmenistan including the transit issue.
The President recalled that during his visit to Ashgabat, a gas swap agreement was signed between Turkmenistan, Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. He drew attention to the fact that this event will make it possible to turn Iran into a regional transit hub in the future.
On November 27, the leader of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Raisi. They discussed the importance of increasing the volume of bilateral trade and strengthening fruitful bilateral humanitarian contacts.
