Sixth meeting of Mejlis of Turkmenistan held in Ashgabat

On December 4, the sixth meeting of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh (one of the chambers of the parliament) of Turkmenistan of the 6th convocation was held in Ashgabat. The deputies unanimously adopted the draft laws «On social services», «On the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases», «On hunting and protection of hunting wealth», as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

The parliamentarians noted that within the framework of the socially oriented political course of the national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov unprecedented steps are taken to improve the well-being of citizens of the country. The draft law on social services defines the concept of «social service». The focus is made on the ability of certain categories of persons to independently satisfy their basic individual needs.

As part of the consideration of the draft legislative act on the fight against NCDs, the deputies stressed that Berdimuhamedov pays special attention to the implementation of large-scale programs to modernize the medical sector, to familiarize the population with a healthy lifestyle. The document defines the legal, organizational, economic and social basis of the relevant activities.

It should be noted that Turkmenistan has received the WHO Certificate for its significant contribution to the prevention of non-communicable diseases.
