Deputies’ salaries cut and official cars abolished in Kyrgyzstan

On December 2, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov signed the decree on the optimisation of the republican budget spending. It is noted that the necessary measures have been taken to reduce maintenance costs of Jogorku Kenesh deputies, in particular, their official salaries have been cut, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh will earn 30,000 soms, deputy speakers - 27,000 soms, leaders of parliamentary factions and chairmen of the committees – 26,000 soms and deputies – 25,000 soms.

“The mechanism can be characterized by the well-known principle:  the state must live within its means; in other words, the total savings on maintenance costs of the state administration to the state budget,” the message says.

It is noted that Jogorku Kenesh deputies had received housing compensation. The Decree abolished compensations and office cars.

Official cars are provided to deputies who do not have their own car, the speaker of parliament and his deputies.
