Uzbekistan delegation visits capital of Afghanistan

On November 30, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev led the Uzbekistan delegation to Kabul, where a meeting with the members of the Afghan Interim Administration took place, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The representatives of Uzbekistan held meetings with the ministers of internal affairs, foreign affairs, economy and energy and the cabinet ministers of Afghanistan. The agendas focused on promoting energy and transport cooperation, as well as implementing major regional projects and providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan confirmed its readiness to participate in the projects initiated by the Uzbek side – the construction of the Surhan-Pul-i-Khumri power line and the railway that connects Mazar-i-Sharif with Kabul and Peshawar.

The members of the Afghan Interim Administration expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for supplying electric power to the neighbouring country, providing humanitarian aid and assisting in the reconstruction of the Mazar-i-Sharif airport. Touching upon issues on the regional security agenda, the members of the Afghan Interim Administration assured the representatives of Uzbekistan that Afghanistan would never pose a threat to Uzbekistan and other neighbouring countries. 

The members of the Afghan Interim Administration expressed gratitude to the leader of Uzbekistan for providing support to the Afghan people and contributing to its economic recovery during difficult times.
