Tajikistan and Russia sign two education agreements

On November 30, the signing ceremony of two intergovernmental agreements on the provision of schools in the Central Asian republic with Russian teachers and the creation of an enabling operating environment for new Russian-language schools in the country took place at the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan, the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science reports.

Minister of Education of Tajikistan Mukhammadyusuf Imomzoda, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk and First Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Alexander Bugaev took part in the ceremony.

The documents provide for the compulsory study of the Tajik language at the Russian-language schools. While working in Tajikistan, Russian teachers will follow the national customs and traditions.

The second agreement will regulate the activities of new Russian-language schools in Dushanbe, Kulyab, Khujand, Bokhtar and Tursunzade. These educational institutions will be built by September 1, 2022. Each school is designed for 1,200 schoolchildren. The Government of the Russian Federation had allocated about US$ 140-150 million to implement these projects, Overchuk said. Together with teachers from Russia, local teachers will work at these schools.
