On November 29, the projects of modern oncology and endocrinology centres were presented for review to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
The new oncology centre will be built on the territory of Clinic 2 of the Tashkent Medical Academy; the decision about the necessity of building the centre was adopted in May this year after the visit of the President to the research and practical oncology and radiology centre. Health professionals note that the incidence of oncological diseases rises, while material and technical resources of the existing healthcare facilities are outdated. In this regard, the President of Uzbekistan adopted the Resolution On the further improvement of haematological and oncological care services, authorising to build oncology and endocrinology centres.
The new 10-storey oncology centre will offer such advanced cancer treatment methods as targeted therapy, immunotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery. It will house the departments of radiology and radiation therapy, radioisotopes and positron emission tomography.
In accordance with the public health improvement programme, it is planned to build a new endocrinology centre at Clinic 1 of the Tashkent Medical Academy. Currently, the Republican Endocrinology Centre with a 288-bed hospital and a polyclinic that accommodates 250 patients a day operates in the capital. The new endocrinology centre will have 28 departments (14 of them are new) and be fitted with state-of-the-art diagnostic and medical equipment.
