Turkmen student helps refugees at Belarus–Poland border

Lachin Taganova, a student of philology faculty at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno from Turkmenistan, volunteered to help refugees who are in a difficult situation at the Belarus–Poland border. The girl helps migrants to communicate with border guards, since they don’t know Russian and Belarusian. It was reported by the state news agency BelTA on November 22.

Lachin works as an interpreter at the temporary accommodation center for refugees in the transport and logistics center next to the Bruzgi-Kuznitsa checkpoint. She speaks English, Persian and Turkish.

— I volunteered to go to the border because I wanted to help people. The situation over here and the conditions people live in shocked me, — said the Turkmen student.

According to her, some children do not even have winter clothes, so many of them are sick. She hopes that the situation will soon get better and the corresponding problems will be solved.

It should be mentioned that a large number of illegal migrants from Syria and Iraq have accumulated at the border between Belarus and Poland. They try to break through the barbed wire fence set up by Poland and get into the EU through the country.
