Tajikistan to issue banknotes with enhanced protection against counterfeiting

Banknotes of the 2021 design will soon be issued in circulation in the Republic of Tajikistan. They will have a number of prominent security features, which make them easy to distinguish from counterfeits. The National Bank is taking the necessary actions, the press office of the financial institution reported on November 18.

This will be done in accordance with the Order of the National Bank of November 16 in compliance with the regulatory legal act on the National Bank of Tajikistan. The Republic will issue in circulation 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 somoni banknotes.

The new banknotes will be made 80% of cotton fibre and 20% of polymer and have a high degree of protection against counterfeiting.

The representatives of the financial institution said the banknotes would be issued in circulation along with the 1999, 2010, 2017 and 2018 banknotes.

The National Bank is taking measures to transport, register and launch the new banknotes. They assured that this work would be done as scheduled.
