On November 16, in Ashgabat, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held an online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. During the event, a proposal to create a digital map with detailed information about the transport and communication systems of the country was approved. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».
Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the government Mammethan Chakyyev reported on the work on development of the map. According to him, geographic information systems are widely used in world practice today. These platforms host the details of the facilities, he added.
The official offered Berdimuhamedov to launch a digital map with details about international highways and railways, airports, seaports, post offices, logistics centers, checkpoints and customs points on the Internet. According to the civil servant, the project is primarily aimed at broad coverage of the potential of the transport and transit corridors of Turkmenistan.
The President approved the proposal and gave Chakyyev a number of instructions in the relevant direction.
