Kyrgyzstan calls on to extend transport corridor between CIS countries

Kyrgyzstan considers it necessary to build new railways and promote cooperation in this area.

On November 12, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov addressed the online meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of Government, noting that his country called on to broaden and strengthen multifaceted, friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with the states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reports.

It was noted that Kyrgyzstan sought to build up the transport and transit potential of the CIS states, taking into account the interests of all member states, as well as the emerging international railway networks.

Japarov stressed that the implementation of international railway projects was a key priority for Kyrgyzstan.

He noted that currently Kyrgyzstan has access only to the freight and passenger rail networks of the CIS states, in particular Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and the solution of this problem was of paramount importance for the Republic.

Thus, Kyrgyzstan stands for the elimination of barriers to international passenger and freight transportation.
