Uzbek leader supports renaming of Turkic Council

The issues related to the promotion of multifaceted partnerships in trade, investment, green economy, digital technologies and transport and communications were considered.

On November 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the 8th Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking states that adopted more than 10 documents, including the Final Declaration and the Turkic World Vision – 2040. The summit focused on promoting multifaceted partnerships in trade, investment, green economy, digital technologies, transport and communications, education and culture, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The Uzbek leader expressed the full support for the historic decisions to rename the Turkic Council into the Organization of Turkic States and to grant observer status to Turkmenistan. It was noted that these decisions could enhance and bring the work of the organisation up to a new level and significantly increase its role and authority in the world arena.

It was emphasised that trade between Uzbekistan and the fraternal countries had doubled in recent years, but these indicators did not meet the existing potential. The analysis showed that last year the volume of imports of the countries amounted to US$420 billion, while the total volume of mutual supplies between the participating countries amounted to US$ 21 billion.
