Training for women and girls of Central Asia starts in Uzbekistan

Representatives of the Central Asian countries took part in the gender equality training.

A training camp for girls on leadership, mentoring and gender equality in Central Asia, organised by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan jointly with UNDP, the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the UN - Women, is taking place in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region these days, the press office of the Senate reports.

Chairperson of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska welcomed the participants.

More than 30 representatives of the Central Asian countries – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan – are taking part in the training. It aims to develop leadership skills and promote enhanced participation of women and girls in the political, social and economic life of their countries.

The event addressed such issues as the evolution of the role of women in the public and political life of the countries of the region, as well as the promotion of gender equality in the implementation of international norms.

The public speaking trainings on gender equality, scientific capacity building, basics of entrepreneurship and economic literacy for women and girls were organised for the participants.
