More than 61,000 juniper trees planted in capital of Turkmenistan

It was done as part of a large-scale greening campaign on the territory of the cultural and park complex Magtymguly Fragi.

A large-scale greening campaign was held in Turkmenistan on November 6. As part of the event, over 61.2 thousand Turkmen juniper seedlings were planted on the territory of the cultural and park complex Magtymguly Fragi in Ashgabat. The campaign was launched by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».

As part of the decree of the head of the state, by the end of the year, a total of 30 million seedlings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grapes will be planted throughout the country, 10 million of these trees will be in the capital.

It is important to note that the territory of the above park and its environs is 153 hectares. Many young people took part in the greening campaign.

The leader of the country emphasized that parks and squares fulfill an ecological mission — they serve as the «lungs» of the city, and juniper reduces the concentration of carbon monoxide and captures dust from the air.

It should be mentioned that large-scale planting campaigns are carried out in Turkmenistan on an annual basis. Earlier, 3 million trees were planted in the country. The corresponding number has increased many times since 2020.
