The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the 26th session of the UN climate conference.
Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow. As part of his speech, he said that the Central Asian country plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It was reported by the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on November 3.
The official stressed that the corresponding process will be implemented until 2030, and starting from that year, the state plans to achieve zero growth of greenhouse emissions. The Deputy Prime Minister added that both state funds and money allocated by international structures and financial institutions will be used for this goal.
According to him, at the moment the Turkmen authorities pay special attention to the adoption of measures to reduce methane emissions, in particular through the introduction of modern technologies in all spheres of the national economy.
Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the fact that Ashgabat welcomes the initiative on the Global Methane Commitment and will study the project in detail in order to consider the possibility of participating in its implementation.
He also spoke about the adoption of a national strategy for the development of renewable energy until 2030.
