Facebook gives Kazakhstan Ministry of Information access to its internal tools

Information technologists of the Republic received access to the Content Reporting System (CRS), i.e. a content notification system.

On November 1, the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan announced that it had come to an agreement with the global social network Facebook on cooperation in the fight against harmful content; mainly it focused on online safety for children. The Ministry has received access to one of the internal tools, the information portal of the Ministry reports.

In the press release, the Ministry informs that Facebook has provided exclusive access to its Content Reporting System (CRS) that will help the Government of Kazakhstan address cybersecurity issues.

CRS will enable the subdivisions of the Ministry to notify promptly about content that may violate Facebook’s global content policy and local laws of Kazakhstan.

It was also emphasised that Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia to receive access to CRS. Kazakh “techies” have connected to Facebook’s international content policy team through a dedicated communication channel.
