Uzbekistan and WTO discuss Uzbekistan’s accession

The meeting focused on the issues regarding accession to the organisation and its impact on the private sector, possible implications for different sectors of the country and other factors.

The negotiating group on accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the WTO, headed by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov, participated in the roundtable meetings on Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization with the business and scientific communities. The meeting focused on the issues regarding accession to the organisation and its impact on the private sector, possible implications for different sectors of the country and other factors, the press office of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reports.

Much attention is paid to the procedure for accession to the WTO for research institutes that have the resources and specific capabilities to provide arguments for the negotiation provision with the WTO member states, as well as conduct studies on the possible implications for economic spheres and level negative scenarios.

The emphasis was placed on professional training in multilateral trade networks and the WTO to facilitate the effective participation of the country in the activities of the organization after accession.

Following the meeting, the group members called on to continue discussions between the parties, as well as facilitate the involvement of research institutions in the procedure for Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.
