Tatneft wants to double oil production in Turkmenistan

The proposal was voiced by the company’s CEO Maganov at a meeting chaired by President Berdimuhamedov.

On October 27, a working meeting with the participation of local officials and representatives of PJSC Tatneft was held in Ashgabat. It was chaired by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the event, a proposal to double oil production in the country was voiced. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».

The corresponding presentation was made by Nail Maganov, General Director of Tatneft. He stated that the plan includes carrying out geological and technical works at the Goturdepe field in the Balkan province, expanding investments in this direction and developing service oilfield equipment.

The head of the PJSC showed a graph of the contribution of the development of an oil field to the gross domestic product of Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhamedov was also presented with a proposal to repair and put into operation at least 300 idle and scheduled wells. The agreement is planned to be signed between State Concern Türkmennebit and PJSC Tatneft.

The President thanked Maganov for his constructive approach to the above issues. He instructed the relevant specialists to study the legal side of the submitted proposals, their compliance with local legislation. A number of other officials were instructed to attract more foreign investment to the oil and gas sector of the country.

Within the framework of the meeting, a joint project of State Concern Türkmennebit and PJSC Tatneft, focused on diversification of the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan, was also presented. Particular attention was paid to the importance of modernizing the Altyguyi field located in the Balkan province.
