Telephone conversation between President of Uzbekistan and Prime Minister of Pakistan

The leaders of the two states discussed a number of important aspects of bilateral cooperation.

On October 26, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the presidential election and wished the well-being, peace and prosperity to the Uzbek people. Imran Khan noted the high level of the election campaign and the presidential election process in general.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Imran Khan discussed the current state and prospects of building up Uzbekistan-Pakistan cooperation in a number of spheres. It was noted that the partnership between the two friendly countries was keeping up the positive momentum: mutual trade has grown significantly and industrial cooperation is expanding, and it is also planned to implement joint projects in the banking, transport and communications, investment, culture and education sectors.

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan touched upon the Afghan problem. They underlined the importance of achieving peace and stability in this geographically close country, which required concerting the efforts to solve this regional and global problem.
