Tajikistan and EBRD discuss priority areas of investment

The topic was raised during a meeting of Minister of Economic Development Zavki Zavkizoda with the representatives of the financial organisation.

On October 25, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavki Zavkizoda held talks with EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai, Head of the Resident Office in Tajikistan Rika Ishii and the leading banker of Tajikistan Jamshed Rahmonberdiyev in Dushanbe, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade reported.

The parties discussed the progress of the implementation of the state investment projects, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Particular attention was paid to the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station and the launch of joint ventures that would process raw materials in free economic zones.

The emphasis was placed on the construction of the logistics centres. Zavkizoda and Hargitai agreed on the importance of the effective implementation of the state digital economy programme for the period until 2025.

The EBRD representatives also underscored the Bank’s commitment to developing the green economy in the Republic of Tajikistan and modernising state-owned enterprises in line with international standards.
