Tajikistan to spend US$ 1.3 billion to improve lives of its people

The authorities of Tajikistan intend to direct 14.6 billion somoni (about US$ 1.3 billion) from the state budget to the social sphere in 2022. This commitment was expressed by President Emomali Rahmon at a government meeting on October 25, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The reports of the draft law on the 2022 state budget were presented at the meeting. Particular attention was paid to the projection of the figures in this sphere for 2023 and 2024.

According to experts, budget revenues would total 32.8 billion somoni (over US$ 2.9 billion), and expenditures would total 33.4 billion somoni (about US$ 2.96 billion) next year, Rahmon said.

Almost 44% of these funds will be used to improve the standard of living of the people. This represents 14% of the gross domestic product.

The President instructed that whatever needed be done to pay salaries, scholarships, pensions and benefits on time. The emphasis was placed on the importance of accelerating industrialization and achieving food security.
