Shavkat Mirziyoyev votes in presidential elections

Incumbent President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a presidential candidate Shavkat Mirziyoyev voted in the presidential elections.

On October 24, the leader of Uzbekistan, presidential candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev voted in the presidential elections, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The President cast his vote at polling station 59 in Mirzo-Ulugbek district of the capital. His large family accompanied Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the polling station.

10,761 polling stations in 14 constituencies have opened for the presidential elections. More than 970 observers representing 20 international organisations and 50 states have arrived in the country to observe the elections; nearly 1,700 media representatives from Uzbekistan and foreign countries have been accredited.

The candidates from 5 political parties have participated in the elections; they had a level playing field for their election campaigns. Meetings and discussions with voters and televised debates between presidential candidates were held.

The electoral legislation of Uzbekistan has undergone substantial reform in line with international standards. This year’s elections have been held in accordance with the Electoral Code adopted in July 2019.
