OSCE/ODIHR supports Kazakhstan in implementing human rights programmes

The aspects of bilateral cooperation between the Republic and OSCE/ODIHR, including in the electoral sphere, were discussed.

On October 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi held talks with Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci during his first work trip to Kazakhstan. The interlocutors discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as further steps to promote bilateral partnerships, including in the electoral sphere, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to CentralAsia.news.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs briefed his interlocutor on the recent election of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Human Rights Council for the next two years and outlined the priorities of Kazakhstan’s membership in this intergovernmental body.

The guest noted that the OSCE fully supported Kazakhstan’s efforts to promote the principles of international law and the human rights and freedoms standards and confirmed its readiness to facilitate effective interaction with Kazakhstan within its mandate.
