Mirziyoyev reviwes progress in implementing drinking water supply project in Jizzak

The project provides for the construction of water intake and treatment facilities, the Jizzak water distribution centre and 183 kilometres of water transporting networks.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress in implementing the drinking water supply project in Jizzak Region. The 580 billion soums project provides for the construction of water intake and treatment facilities, the Jizzak water distribution centre and 183 kilometres of water transporting networks, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

To date, the construction of the Uzunbulok water treatment plant with a capacity of 100,000 cubic metres, pumping station, laboratory, filtration station and additional facilities in Bulungur Region, next to the Zarafshan River has been completed. A 77-kilometre line from the Uzunbulok-Gagarin main network to Jizzak has been built. The Jizzak water distribution centre and two 5,000-cubic meter reservoirs have been built. A 90-kilometre line will stretch from these facilities to Gagarin.

This historic project will provide access to clean drinking water for 700,000 residents of Bahmal, Gallaarl, Sharaf-Rashid, Pahtakor, Dustlik and Mirzachul districts and 163 mahallas in Jizzak.

“The people of Jizzak have been waiting for this water for more than 30 years. Now, qualified specialists must work at each network facility, in each district through which its sections run,” the President said.

It was noted that the project was to be completed by the first half of 2022.
