Government of Kyrgyzstan allocates almost US$ 11.8 million to promote tourism

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to establish the State Tourism Promotion Fund.

The State Tourism Promotion Fund will be established in Kyrgyzstan. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov made this statement at the republican meeting of the heads of local self-government bodies on October 21. He said 1 billion soms (about US$ 11.8 million) would be allocated to promote tourism, the press office of the Government reported.

According to the Prime Minister, special attention would be given to the repair of roads that lead to tourist destinations. The Fund will acquire extensive powers. It will lease out tourism facilities and conclude sale and purchase contracts and development contracts.

Japarov noted that appropriate changes to the legislation would be made, which would boost tourism development in the Republic.

Part of the funds allocated by the Government will be used to create tourism clusters – a ski complex in Karakol and a number of resorts in Osh and Jalal-Abad.

The Prime Minister instructed that each region create a unique and easily recognizable tourism logo.
