Senate of Oliy Majilis of Uzbekistan approves water use law

The deputies of Parliament of Uzbekistan discussed the Law On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan On Water and Water Use.

On October 21, the Senate of the Oliy Majilis of Uzbekistan adopted the Law On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan On Water and Water Use. The aforementioned Law provides for strengthening the powers of state authorities and government bodies in the water sector, the press office of Parliament of Uzbekistan reports.

According to the Law, the activities of water consumers associations are financed by annual membership fees and payments for water use and other contracted water services, as well as from other legitimate financing sources.

The Law prohibits any violations of the regime in the sanitary protection and water protection zones of the water bodies.

The measures taken to prevent, protect and eliminate the harmful effects at the state budget-financed facilities and the facilities that belong to state budget-financed organisations are financed by the budget of these organisations. Similar measures taken at the facilities that belong to water consumers are financed by their budget.

The responsibilities of water users include the application of digital technologies.

The implementation of this Law is expected to speed up the application of water efficient technologies, facilitate the timely collection of payments for water services and expand the powers of water consumers association to regulate water use.
