China corrects deficiencies of Safe City Project in Dushanbe

Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Rahimzoda raised this topic at a meeting with a Huawei representative.

On October 15, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda held a meeting with President of the Eurasian Regional Office at Huawei Zhou Daniel. The interlocutors discussed the status of the Safe City Project in Dushanbe, focusing on a number of the inadequacies, the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

Rahimzoda complained that there were many inadequacies in the Safe City video surveillance system. He emphasised that these inadequacies should be addressed in the near future. Hardware and software must comply with modern requirements, the Minister added.

Daniel promised the Minister to correct all the deficiencies as soon as possible. He visited the Safe City centre to inspect its activities.

As was reported, the project was launched on October 31, 2014 to install 870 cameras throughout the capital. The Safe City Project costs US$ 22 million. A large portion of this amount, namely US$ 20.9 million, is a loan provided to Tajikistan by China.
